Do you have a physical store I can go to where I can try on items?
Currently we have a small shop/showroom set up at our offices in Montague Gardens Industrial area, Cape Town that is open to the public. All other stores in the major city centers are now closed (Cape Town CBD, Brooklyn Mall & Parkhurst). Please see more details HERE for our location and hours.
Do you sell gift vouchers?
For gift vouchers, we issue a unique Voucher code that can be used online, at any time.
Are my credit card details safe?
Yes. This is a concern for many online buyers, especially first-timers. All credit card transactions take place on a secure page through Payfast. Please visit their website at www.payfast.co.za for information on the safety of your transaction.
How often do you get new products?
Retrospective regularly gets new products in store. As soon as they are received and put on our shelves they will also become available on our website. We send all product updates out to our customers via our Retro Newsletter. Sign up here*
I have a Gift Voucher purchased from your old (physical) store can I still use it?
Yes you can! At this stage our current web site doesn't support vouchers purchased in-store, but please do contact us and we will make the necessary arrangement to make sure you can still get what your heart desires. Please note that only vouchers purchased at Retrospective Cape Town in our previous location (City) are valid, but unfortunately vouchers purchased from the previous Pretoria and Joburg stores we are unable to validate.

What if it does not fit?
If your item does not fit or is defective or damaged we are happy to exchange or refund it. If you need to exchange it for the same item or a different size send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve the item for you.
How do I return my item?
To return your product, you should mail your product to:

You will be responsible for paying for your own shipping costs for returning your item. Shipping costs are non-refundable. If the product is found to be defective based on an error from manufacturing we will cover the shipping cost to return it.
Depending on where you live, the time it may take for your exchanged product to reach you, may vary.
Alternatively if you are close to us you are welcome to pop in for an exchange. Refunds take 1-2 days to process once the item has been received and unfortunately cannot be done in store.
Only regular priced items may be returned, unfortunately sale items cannot be returned/refunded.

How does an exchange or refund work?
Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your returned item. We will also notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund.
If you are approved, then your refund will be processed, within 1-2 days days of the items being received at our offices.
We issue a store refund in the form of a unique Coupon Code to the full value of the item being returned that you will be able to use on our web site at any time (excl shipping costs).
What are the Terms & Conditions of a return?
Our Returns Policy lasts 10 days. If 10 days has gone by since your purchase, unfortunately we cannot offer you a refund or exchange.
To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must also be in the original packaging such as the original shoe box.
Only regular priced items may be refunded, unfortunately sale items cannot be refunded. No refunds on lingerie, hosiery, earrings, sunglasses and swimwear.
We issue a store refund in the form of a unique Coupon Code to the full value of the item being returned that you will be able to use on our web site at any time (excl shipping costs). Please keep this code safe. This code will never expire.
What do I do if I don't receive my package?
Don’t panic, phone us so that we can panic on your behalf. Don’t worry either, because we will work out what went wrong and sort it out as soon as we can. Please understand it will be heart-breaking for us that you didn’t get to dress up but we will do everything we can to fix what went wrong and try to ensure it does not happen again to the best of our ability.
What if you send me the wrong thing?
At Retrospective we are humans and mistakes happen. If we have delivered the wrong product, a faulty product, or have misrepresented the offering with an incorrect picture or description we accept we have made a mistake and we will deal with the situation as soon as possible. Please contact us immediately and we will resolve the error by arranging to collect the incorrect product(s) from you and to deliver the correct product(s) to you as quickly as possible.

I want to send somebody a gift from your store – how does that work?
We can definitely do that for you! Please make sure you say GIFT upon check out in the COMMENT BOX so that our staff know to NOT include an invoice. Alternatively send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org
How true is the colour on your product photos?:
Please be aware that the color on your monitor may differ from the actual item as it is listed. If you would like to see other view options on the item you like, please email us and we will send other photos of the item.
